This project is being used for a headboard for a queen size bed.

I would use chalkpaint because it is no easy!!! Just dilute it with water until you get your desired color.

If the door is stained you will first need to remove it using a stripper that says on the front of the can it removes stain like Kleen Strip. I would use steel wool to make sure I get it all off. Then mix white latex paint with half water half paint, then use a brush and paint on, let set a bit then wipe off with old rags. If you want it whiter, let it sit on longer before wiping off.

  • Hi Gay, it is super easy to get a white washed look. There are a couple of different methods you could use. Like Katie mentioned earlier, chalkpaint is super easy to make the white wash look. Just use Dixie Belle Paint in Fluff or Cotton and then water it down. It will work like a dream.

Or we do have a product that is called a White Wash glaze. This is what was used in the pix I am attaching. It too is super easy to use.

All you need is an old door and some white paint. Give the door a light sanding then using a chalk based white paint with a little water in it, give the door a coat or 2 of white paint with a brush.
