by Tina
I have this coffee table, the glass is gone and it only has 3 legs but I want to keep it and make something out of it since this was our very first coffee table when we married... If anybody has any ideas I would be most grateful!
Here is the table leaning up against my garage wall I hope somebody can help me with some good ideas thank you in advance!

I would replace the legs with possibly wrought iron and get a piece of glass for the top.

Beautiful shape, what about having a mirror cut to go behind it and hang it on the wall?

cut plywood for openings and paint with chalkboard paint for a large memo board

Remove the legs and turn it into a large picture frame to display a collection of pictures from the first days until today...of your marriage. If it is deep enough, you could include little keepsakes, too. Celebrate your marriage with it!!

My idea is similar to Allie's. I would make it a combo memo/chalk board. I'd do half in chalk board paint over MDF, because it's smoother. On the other sides I'd add fabric (burlap if you like it) covered drop ceiling tile cut to fit. You can get 2'x4" tiles at HoDe or Lowe's for very little money. Get some chalk and push pins and your good to go. Depending on what the remaining legs look like, I might have ideas for them too. Can you share a photo of them please?

If you want to continue to use as a table, buy 4 new legs, or try to closely match 1 with other 3. Sand and re-stain. If you have a salvage store in your area, they may have glass that fits, or call a glass company. This way, you can restore it back to the way you remember it. Sometimes, the latest trends aren't always better.

A mirror or a bench that you could fasten permanently to a wall using two of the legs.

Love the ornate value of it - what about a backlit shadowbox for your collectibles?

Gosh, all these ideas are really great! My first instincts were the same as Karen Reilly"s though. I guess us New England gals get to stick together! My thoughts would be a mirror to hang over a mantel, dining hutch or bedroom dresser. As a bench, it could also be free standing using a piece of wood across the back of the bench that could be the back legs as well as a back for the bench if you wish. I wouldn't make cushions for it because they woud cover the detail that's so pretty on the table.

How bout photo frame for 2 collages: one for each of you prior the wedding..or one pre nuptials and the other what's happened since:)

You could sand it down and repaint it and add hooks and hang it from your ceiling in your kitchen to hang your pots and pans from it. You could also remove any excess wood on the underside sand down and repaint and use as a double frame for some art pictures or family pictures.
