I have a very narrow but long shelf in my kitchen (I use every square inch of space) although I had some nice glass bottles that I had bought, our discount store started selling jam in jars that fit even more perfectly. Jars are very attractive used for storing any number of things esp things that reflect who you are (i.e. spools of thread if you are a sewer, knitting needles if you knit) q-tips, cotton balls, nuts with shells, spices, chalk, buttons, nails etc.) I have sepia copied antique photos and put them inside a jar to unify a look or just to add interest but a photo copy of anything of interest would unify it. . . dogs, sailboats, lighthouses etc.
Not sure if you are looking for suggestions on how to use the jars or how to decorate them. If you are looking to use them for storage of small items, I would paint them then glue an item to the outside that represents what's on the inside. Color coding may help to keep them sorted too, like pink for buttons and sewing notions, blue for screws and bolts, etc.
1)Christmas jars! spray paint the lids, fill the jars with bright red/green candies, glue or screw a clear knob on top and tie a ribbon around the top with a dab of holly or greenery tucked into the top! I love giving 3 away as a gift. Here is one photo . 2)fill them with dehydrated herbs for your cooking! I dehydrate our herbs often and give them as gifts also. Glass jars are the best for storing them
I use left over jars as fire fly lights for the outside. Take wire and twist around the neck of the jar and then make a handle of twisted wire. I then put a Dollar Store solar light in the opening. Hanging them in the trees looks awesome!
You can spray paint the tops add drawer pulls, plastic toys, lamp finials as decorative accents and use glass candle stick holders clear or paint them any color from dollar tree and glue them to Bottom. Perfect for bathroom, kitchen or any where in your home. Here's a few photos ideas
