What can I do with an old milk box?

Is it wooden or metal? There are two sites on pinterest that will not go through. Type in ideas for repurposing old milk crates.

Plant some potatoes or carrots in it or use it put a beautiful flower in it. You may need to start with some weed barrier fabric to hold the soil in if there are holes on the sides and bottom. Water will drain out but the soil will stay.

I live in a loft style apartment and I use them for the strange high places for silk (good silk) plant holders and have one in bedroom that is surrounded with angels and another one with memerabilia of my sweet mini daschund that passed three years ago and one in my kitchen surrouded by my rooster collection above upper cabinets with dried flowers in it. I also have on in my bathroom for my hand towels that I roll up and have it mounted above my toilet with real plants on the top of it. Use them also for storage of craft stuff in my pantry on the floor.
