What to do with old magazines?

Question

We have dozens and dozens of old National Geographic magazines  and as we are life members, we keep getting them. Any innovative ideas as to what one can do with the old ones?

You can wallpaper a wall with the bookshelves or decoupage a table with them

My dad nailed up plywood to the underside of the rafters in the garage above his workbench. Mom mod posted pages of interest to the plywood and a toolbox. She used maps and magazine pages on the back wall of his workshop. He loved it. Man cave friendly.

Some of the old ones may end up having some value.  I actually went looking for some a few years ago to give as part of a birthday gift, being that this what was happening  in the year that you were born......

If schools don't want them, try retirement homes, the VFW or give them to the Salvation Army or such.

As Francesca mentioned older ones can be valuable.  The process of Roto-gravure was the way National Geographic printed their color pictures from their beginning publications.  Avery intricate process hardly used now.  My neighbor was given a choice by his 2nd wife, either get rid of the national Geographics or the piano.  The piano now sits in my living room.  It was his fathers, and is well over 100 years old.  This tells you what he prized most, and he is a man that loves money. So, those National Geographics must be worth a lot!

I called our local Elementary School.......they were TICKLED to have them!  Not much money in budget for the Library so this came in real handy!!

there is some or a lot of ideas on pinterest.com from people blogs that are connected to the site but you have to join and its free.  i love the site.

Nursing Homes, public and Christian school libraries (they make great teaching aids)  Even Scouts have used the pages for craft activities.  Cut the photos out, buy inexpensive frames and hang.
