I Use mine as a small recycling bin by my back door, when full carry it out to larger bin which is further away. Also good for hding LPs, magazines, newspapers, etc
I have used mine for storing albums, books, all kind of things. I use them in the fall to get all the things that will freeze in the garage and store them in the storeroom in the basement. Easy to take back out to the garage in the spring when it warms it up. When the kids were little, I used them for holding some of their toys. I always had one outside for toys since they drain and don't hold water when it rains. They are also really good for holding pool toys so that they dry out.
I saw on Pinterest that someone had made footstools (or just stools) out of them. They cut plywood to fit in the tops, spray-glued 3" foam rubber to the wood, and covered that with fabric, stapling to the underside. I would suppose they stapled a square of fabric with the edges turned under to cover the underside work.
Crate stools like Beth mentioned are also great storage, as the lid is removable.
I’ve used them as extra seating outside by cutting ply to fit the top and painting it with left over paint, then cutting strips of old t-shirts and weaving around the sides. That way you have extra seating and storage for a cushion.
