Saying Goodbye to My Television Entertainment Unit...

My television entertainment unit was dictating my living room. Because of the size I was forced to put it along a certain wall. It was tired looking and clunky. Two rounds on Craiglist with no bites and I resigned myself to the fact that it was not going anywhere. Then one day as I was sketching out some ideas for an upcoming project I looked at the unit with all new possibilities. Let’s just say some surgery has occurred and I have two new pieces! Posting these on Craig's list is just redundant as everyone who had these unit are trying to unload as they don't require them for their t.v.'s no more. But this looks interesting.

I WANT TO SEE IT ALL DONE ! LOL I had a big, tall, heavy one that DID sell on craigs...for almost what I paid for it 15 years ago, but I know that is a rare event. I love what you've done so far...I want more ! LOL

We had a different style and after getting a much larger flat screen didn't need the old oak unit anymore but needed some place to stash the DVR etc. So we lopped off the top---which was a large open "hutch" dealie;;;and lopped the top "board" off of THAT piece and laid it over the unfinished edges of the bottom. The bottom had doors to keep the components in and an open center space. I then found two matching shelving units at HABITAT and decided to bracket the unit with them for a built in look. However the outer shelving was a dark stain and the inner lower old TV cabinet was pale oak! Found cube storage bins at WM for abt $37 each and used two inbetween the shelving---these match almost exactly and gave us room for the components--you don't have to use the top most upright on them---and gave us a place to corral all the toys etc in canvas lined wire bins and boxes. We then sold--on CRAIGS---the new/old oak piece for $50 and considering I had purchased it as a display model perhaps 10 years ago for $100---this was great! I live in a very rural area so our Craigs is not the most used but I had MANY calls on this in it's lower and useful form. Good pics on Craigs and "bumping" it EVERY DAY will sell your stuff. If you have a truck or larger SUV or a trailer and arrange to deliver---and get PAID to do so---this is a HUGE bonus to some who cannot go fetch. We have gotten rid of--and gotten paid to deliver---our old washer and dryer; mattress; kids toys---love CRAIGS!!!!
