What can I do with antique table cloths, napkins, bed linens, etc.

Cleaning out my Italian grandmother’s house, we have found SO many antique table cloths, napkins, bed linens, etc. Besides the fact that they need to be cleaned which is monumental in itself, what can we do with them? Is there a market for this kind of thing, or any project where we can incorporate them as a keepsake? Seriously, so many and they’ve probably been put up for close to 60 years.

Glenda: Maybe you can use them as window coverings

I'm envisioning some beautiful curtains hanging in your home! :) Maybe a new bedspread? duvet cover? It might be best to take them to be dry cleaned to preserve the material first. Have fun with whatever project you decide on and enjoy those beautiful memories of Grandmom!

Thank you, I see you and Nan had the same thought. I didn’t want to throw them out, but yet there are so many that I also don’t want to store them. Great idea!

  • Do NOT dry clean them! They will be permanently damaged and worthless. If you don't want them, sell them on eBay. Huge market for these items and they go for big bucks, especially if they are from Italy. I have a lot of European linens and cherish all of them. If you want to wash them, let me know, I will send you links.

Use the tablecloths. Make curtains or a quilt. Turn napkins into table runners or a valance. Give away to relatives that might want them.
