Check with Humane Society....could use for animals. Or tear them up and use for rags. Or make pillow cases out of them or table runners (could embroidery them). If they are good, and usable, how about a homeless shelter..am sure they could use them?

Daughter uses my old sheets for a tablecloth outside. The white one she lets the kids draw on, the goldenrod sheet looks great gathered in the unbrella pole with ribbon. Stitched four

All the ideas above are great, I love using old sheets for projects for paint drop cloths, when my boys were little I used them for the playroom, making tents & curtains for shows they produced. I also keep some handy to protect my car seats when transporting our dog with dirty paws, or taking things to the Goodwill, etc. Also if you sew, make napkins out of an old sheet, cover boxes, if its a pretty sheet, buy some frames and frame parts of the sheet for a coordinated look, a duvet, a curtain for the shower, throw pillows, couch cover, dog bed pad cover. The pillow cases putting a draw string in the top of the pillow case will make a gift for a child by placing a stuffed animal and a book related theme in the new draw bag. I saw a post on this site from a lady that said when she was small her mom would make her summer sun dresses out of perma press sheets so she didn't have to iron them, I think that was brilliant . Have fun thinking of new ways to use your old sheets.

In Scouts, I'd cut the sheets into triangular scarves and have the kids paint on them, or do whatever to individualize them. Also when my son got an apartment, the windows were huge, so I got out the top sheets that were still in good shape and made simple curtains for him. I'm pretty sure he's still using them. My husband uses them for drop cloths. I've cut them down to fit my kitchen table for table cloths. Also good for sewing into kids clothes. Top sheets don't seem to wear out, and I get stuck with all the tops. I use the flannel sheets for winter nightgowns.
