Depends on how long they are and what type (tension vs. screwed into the wall). I've used them as curtain rods, put them under my sink to hang my cleaning products from, towel bars, and--believe it or not--a tension rod as a wrist positioning guide on my piano with my students.
Use in a craft room to hang craft on.
Use in a bathroom as a towel rail, although not metal as they will rust.
Use in a kitchen with butchers hooks on to hang pans, and utensils.
Use in the garden on walls to hang baskets.
