What can I do to an old metal painted tool box besides repainting?

    You could just clean it up and leave it as is in its fun vintage state. Many people do this and still use them for a planter or putting mason jars in it as a table centerpiece or home decor. Pinterest has some pics and ideas:

    Repainted it in your favorite colors. Get some stickers from the hobby dept. of Hobby Lobby or Walmart: tools, flowers, horses. Put the stickers on and write your name (or someone else's) and seal everything with spray. Fill the inside with your tools, or make this for newlyweds. Buy some of the tools at a thrift store and a few new. They won't look like such amateurs with some old tools. Best wishes 😇

    Use it as a planter box, storage container for craft supplies, trinket box, etc.

    I use mine as they are for a vintage look. I use them for storage or to set potted plants in. (plants in there own containers of course, with saucers so as not to cause rust in the metal box.
