I saw on Hometalk where someone cut them into four even pieces, painted them and used them as planters on the front porch or you could put them on the deck. They also put a piece of wood as a shelf down in the planter, so you can just pop your plant right in there.

I had 2 sets we took down. With one I attached all 4 together to make one long rectangle using brackets and a couple 1 x2s. On one, I did not attach this way. Instead, I attached it as a door. I put shelves inside and a piece of plywood on top. Extra storage!
The second set, I w.anted to do the same thing but the top part was missing some of the slats so I cut the top off and just enclosed the whole thing - no door this time, although you could. Mine were brown so I lightly sanded and put a coat of Kilz and then a creamy white paint. I wanted something different for the top. I went to the tile store and bought a large sample tile very close to my paint color and I love the way it turned out. It has that cottage look. I've had so many compliments on it.
That all depends on what you want. Some find the look of louvered bifold doors desirable. Take a look on Pinterest for decorating ideas.
