What can I do with wooden wine boxes?

The wood of the boxes is a heavy wood. It is good to work with. Maybe I should stain or paint?

Is it the type with dividers or an open type box? If it's the divider type and you do crochet or knit or crafts you could hang on the wall to store supplys. If it's the open box you have alot of options. The footrest DJ said is a great idea. Also the double decker but without the padding. I would line with newspaper and use to hold potatoes and onions since the boxes are unique you can leave out as part of the decor. You could also turn on the end and add the wheels to that end and use to hold your CD's or DVD's if you don't want to use in the kitchen. If you have a bar area you could stand it on it's end and place a few of your unopen bottles of wine with some taffata to make it pretty.
