Well, the best is up to you. But, separating all the slats leaves the options wide open. My favorite project is to leave the pallet in tact and nail it to the studs in the garage. You can store rakes and shovels in it and even add little separators at the top so they stay in their individual spots. I've seen pallets become futons, coffee tables, swings (which by the way would be really cute as a plant holder), even shelves once the slats are taken apart.
