You can use pallets for tables..go to Pinterest on internet and look up some of the things they make with pallets. Enter "DIY with pallets for furniture"
Tables have sides that can be folded down. Maybe garage sales, antique stores, sale sites will have them. I used a tall, thin sofa table as desk/ dining table in my younger days.
Look for a pair of used nightstands that appeal to you. They often tend to be smaller dimensions, and you can cut down the legs to a suitable height. They’ll also give you some storage. Two of them give you flexibility in moving them out of the way.
Put wooden crates together for storage and flat surface, just screw together to make more sturdy.
There are coffee tables where the top raises up to be table height for a couch. OR You can scour thrift stores for a nice coffee table that you like, then take the legs off and put taller pre-made legs on it the height you need. Home Depot and Lowes have wood and/or metal legs.....
You can upcycle something as simple as a sturdy oblong cardboard box. Cut out the two longer sides of the box to allow your legs to be under the two sides of the box and the uncut sides resting on the seat of your sofa. You can work with this until it "fits" you and the sofa just right, then cover with contact paper or decorate it *paint, contact paper, or decoupage it) so it fits into your color scheme. Sort of like the trays used for eating in bed..... hope this doesn't sound too crazy! :)
We have a very small table on our porch that can be let down. I happened to find this for free, but it would be easy to construct. It could be cut in any shape. This has a "wing" that holds the table upright. When we push the wing to the side the table top is let down. There is a piano hinge on the back edge of the table and another on the "wing" If you had 40 inches or so of wall space to fasten this to, you could keep the same amount of floor space. Oh, I forgot to say that the let down part is hinged about 4 or 5 inches away from the wall hung part.
came back to say it might be easier to just find an old card table and hide it under the bed or behind a door!
Yes, thank you.
