I found this in my yard while digging a hole to plant a tree. It’s cool, and I’d like to do something cool with it. I’m stumped. Suggestions?

no...it reminds me of a piece from a farmers tractor, when they go to plant and till up the rows. Now days they call it disking.

That’s what it is! The previous owner of my property tended to bury what garbage couldn’t be burned. It makes hole-digging interesting!

The first thing that I thought about when I saw your picture was an octopus. You could add a ball to the centre for a head, paint it a bright colour, and put it in your garden.

    Hi Karris,

What a great find, it does look heavy, would it support an umbrella? Looks like a perfect base for a that.

That’s a good idea. It is heavy. However, the center opening is small — less than 2 inches, maybe?

Hello Karris, What a super find. I would either lean it against a wall or use it to maybe hold a Garden Umbrella, or locate on a timber or pole and use it to grow flowers or vines or Beans using string or wire or Hang Baskets from it. Enjoy........

    Hi,

I think it is an amazing piece! I would put it in my garden just as it is and plant flowers around it. That's a lucky find!

I think I’d get a metal detector and have some fun,,,

  • Dfm Dfm on Jul 07, 2018

back in the day..there were no rural garbage collection happening. You either burned or buried the garbage. Recycle center..nope. It might be fun to take a metal detector and do some exploring....

As soon as I saw your find, I thought it would make a nice outdoor table. Make a base and pole. Then put your find on the pole, then glass on top of it. You'll have to support the glass since there is a bump out on both sides. It would be a real conversation piece.

  • It's so cool as is! I'd just prop it up and use it as a garden sculpture. The rust just adds to the charm.
