Definitely a safety hazard. Fill with cement. Cover with dirt, plant grass.

I had neighbors who just filled in their pool with dirt and put grass on it. The strange thing was they left the slide from the pool up. That looked awkward.

Put an add in the paper or on Craigslist asking for fill dirt and fill in the pool and turn it into your yard.

Call a contractor and have them fill it in. You will gain yard space and no more pool maintenance.

I agree with trying Craigslist for fill . It can be very expensive to fill a pool with dirt. My family moved, because it cost almost as much to fill it, as it did to originally install the pool 40 years ago. I would definitely not fill it with cement.

No cement! Craigslist is an excellent idea for requesting free fill, just be aware of what is coming in as fill. Be sure to tamp the fill into every nook and cranny as the fill will eventually settle causing your ultimate lawn to settle. Look for other spots to post requests for free fill, including community boards in local hardware stores, etc. You will really appreciate having the extra yard space and no longer worrying about the risks associated with your desinagrating pool. Good luck!
