How can I use old vertical blinds?

I've had vertical blinds in my home for many years. I really like them, but I'm just bored with that same look, season after season and I took them down. Being the keeper that I am, I couldn't just throw them out, so, who else but you can give me suggestions about what to do with the rails and/or the vanes - both of which are still in great shape. thank you to all the DIYers out there who come up with the most imaginative ideas. I can't wait till I hear what I can make with these blinds.

I saw some really cool deck chairs where they wove the strips for the backs and seats. I think it was on "Texas Flip and Move" show. You could even weave a big outdoor patio or porch mat and paint it to accent your house etc. I know there are mold resistant paints... waterproof... etc. Maybe use burlap and fabric glue for the edge binding. There should be more ideas on line here somewhere. I know how you feel. I have a hard time throwing away anything good too! Good Luck... You'll figure out something!
For a different look you can spray paint or cover in fabric or contact paper. One person made a back splash out of them.
