Hi all, time to put your creative heads on now and come up with some awesome ideas for this old metal double size headboard.
When I was asked if I wanteded it (free) right away I thought Yes, Im sure I can do something with that, what a brilliant style / shape.
So I have a few ideas of my own, just wondered what the hometalk family would do with it.
I look forward to your suggestions, thank thank thank in advance.

James

Spray paint black and put in your garden as an accent piece. Plant a climbing rose bush in the middle so it can climb on both sides of the rails. It's a beautiful piece and should not be discarded. Good for you for repurposing!

Take it outside and make a GARDEN BED!!

I agree with putting it outside for an accent piece and/or a small trellis.

I would spray paint it and use it as a headboard or build a bench. It is not galvanized, so not intended to use outside - it will just rust and fall apart if you do so.

You could also use it as a base form and upholster by attaching cardboard And batting and use as a headboard or a back for a bench.

If you cut the legs off and spray paint it an antique white, you could use those oval shapes as picture frames for something Victorian looking. You could alternate family pictures with floral pictures, if you like. This would look great on a large wall opening, like going up the steps, or above a fireplace mantle.

I would bury the legs in the ground at the end of your drive, facing the street. Then hang reclaimed wood from the center with your street name and numbers attached. I did this with an old round firewood rack and have had people stop and comment on how unique it is (I also hung a wagon wheel from the center and a running horse silhouette on top). I have even sold a couple of these to neighbors with their choice of outdoor decor items attached.

Good luck with whatever you decide to use!
