How do I fix up a old wicker chest into a coffee table?

    I think it looks fine the way it is, but you could put tempered glass on the top with some small clear feet to keep it just off the cane. You could also use some nice looking wood, finished to match the reddish brown of the cane. You could also put a couple of trays on it, perhaps with tile in a wood frame for setting glasses, cups, etc. on. Myself, I would want to keep the chest on display, it is in gorgeous condition!

  • I see you have a helper! Did you want to paint this? I think it is pretty as is. How about purchasing a piece of glass or plexiglass cut to fit to place on top? Or leave as is and find or make a couple serving trays to set on top for a stable surface to serve beverages.

    I had one identical to yours. I chalk painted it and added a piece of glass cut at Lowes under $10. Turned out really pretty. My sister is using as a coffee table. Easy project. Will be glad to send a picture. My e-mail.is phosey0407@yahoo.com
