Want to give a favorite teacher, friend, or colleague a gift that keeps on giving? Use a retro soup mug from the thrift store, pair it up with a vegetable or herb plant that matches the recipe printed on the mug, and give it as a little starter plant! They can replant the seedling in the garden for a summer full of bounty...and use the mug however they want!

I don't know about you, but I see these retro / vintage soup mugs at secondhand stores all the time- I just love that they come with a recipe printed right on the mug!
And with Spring here, my green thumb is ready to spread the love! So I decided to create starter planters to give as gifts!
I love matching up a veggie or herb plant with one of the soup ingredients on each mug! And no need to drill holes and ruin the mug- the recipient can replant it in their garden for a summer full of flavor...and then reuse the mug as, well, a mug!
Talk about the gift that keeps on giving, all summer long. And a fun, inexpensive repurposing project to boot. Happy gifting! (And Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!)

Make sure you check out the full tutorial...I'll tell you what's going on in that Onion Soup Mug!
