Bi-Fold Closet Door Update
My sister’s future nursery had these boring outdated bi-fold closet doors and I knew that I could give it an inexpensive update! With some PVC trim, liquid nails, caulk, and paint, they look so different!

I picked up some cheap and simple PVC trim and pre-cut it all at my house. You could easily cut this type of plastic trim with scissors or miter shears. I did make sure to cut the ends at a 45 degree angle for nice corners.
Back at my sister’s I used liquid nails to attach them, creating these nice decorative trim boxes. I could have used a nail gun but this kind of trim can dent or break easily.
It looked so much better already just with trim! Next, I caulked all the seams inside and outside the boxes. You could do this to any boring interior door!
Next, paint! My sister wanted a rainbow themed nursery for her “rainbow baby” so it seemed only fitting to have rainbow doors!
Finally, I added some updated knobs and they were done! Such an easy transformation for a baby’s room!

How old ideas get recycled! Forty-five years ago in our old home, I used this technique to up - date a bland / blank front closet door, which one faced immediately on entry. I outlined two matching panels, one above the other on the door, in pencil, then for texture, I glued inside these panels textured cloth, ( it was an ugly cotton pink pique waffled material!), then glued and nailed on the trim outlining the panels. I then painted the entire door, including the cloth, a gold / yellow colour, (popular at the time). The door got repainted as decor colours changed, and remained on the door until we sold in 2014! The new owners still have kept the door, now up-dated in pale grey.
I also did blank sliding closet doors in a bedroom, but just painted them one colour, (no cloth), as in the "rainbow" nursery. I think this could be done over mirrored doors also, with just gluing on the trim and painting. Could also use wallpaper inside the panels.Hope these suggestions are helpful.

that is hysterical! I painted my outdoor fixtures with teal craft paint and spit in the late eighties and replaced the yellow glass with clear frost. it was verde gris! "Three owners later, its still there! :)
