i have a bid closet in my guest room that never get to close properly. it's kinda 72 inches bifold doors, when i opened them, they just come out off the frame and the closet is open at 100%. my husband thinks that the wall frame is not in accurate shape with the doors, that is why it's opening very wide. because believe me, we tried to fix it several times but no success. so we thought that the better solution is to convert the bifold doors to sliding ones. the project was a success. now my closet doors are closing correctly, and it takes less space than before. i slide one side and the other side remind close nicely and beautifully.

this is my closet before.

first, we bought from lowe's a sliding rail kit the same size as my closet. then, we removed the doors from the closet.

after the installation of the metal bar (the railing) on the top of the closet. it was necessary to use the clamps until the work is done.

since the doors are bifold ones, we had to put a piece of metal connector to make the doors stiff and not fold while manipulation them. this piece doesn't come with the kit.

time to place the doors into the railing on the top and the little railing in the bottom.

the closet after. nice and smooth and no more doors hanging out.

Suggested materials:
  • Closet sliding rail kit   (lowe's)
  • Metal connector   (my garage)

Where do the doors slide to? I’m confused. Are you putting one door in front of the other? If that’s the case, don’t you need two rails? ????

How could I do this for a sliding glass patio door of the kitchen. I seen plantation shutter bi pass using them as the "blinds" I hate those floppy vertical blinds with a passion. And real plantation are expensive. But what is not to expensive is louvered bi fold closet doors at the Home ReStore.....

Very awesome transformation and easy! Love the ease of the doors as you don’t have taking up space and constantly getting off track.
