If you are needing and inexpensive and stylish option for door pulls I have got you covered! Use builder grade towel bars and spray paint for this modern take on a barn door pull.

I purchased two sets of towel bar posts and one 24” towel bar rod. I’m going to cut the 24” rod in half and get two pulls from one rod. The finish was chrome but not for long.

I used my steel grinder to cut the rod to 12” . I used a piece of masking tape to mark my center point. You can also use a hack saw.

Once you get the rod cut you will be ready to spray paint. I inserted the screws into the card board box vertically so I could cover all the edges when I spray painted.

I used Rustoleum matte black Hammered finish.

The hammered finish gives a nice texture so I recommend doing three light coats to get a nice consistent finish.

I spray painted the hinges with the same spray paint. Once everything was dry I measured the doors and marked where I wanted the bar pulls to sit. I used my screw gun to screw the brackets in. What do you think of these DIY door pulls?
