In our house we love inexpensive modern decor & a good POP of color!

For less than $100, I’m showing you how to refresh your front door decor by adding color to brighten and create an inviting entry way that will make everyone who walks through it feel happy and welcomed!

Front Door Refresh elements:

– Door Mat

– Rug (place door mat on top for added layer of texture)

– Paint

The Stinger Brush

– Two planters to center the eye

– Door Wreath

– Colorful flowers

– Any extra decor you like to style front door area.

When selecting your front door elements, start by choosing a few colors that really excite you and incorporate them into your color scheme. After all, you will see them daily!

With the days turning warmer and brighter, chartreuse is a bright color that we LOVE! I’ll use that as my POP of color and paint it onto my planters. Also, I’ll bring in different colors/textures with my flowers, door hanging and door mat.

Polish or Paint Front Door

Many people prefer to paint the entire front door with their chosen pop of color.

If that’s the case you can use the Stinger Brush to paint the entire front door.

However, if you prefer to keep the door a neutral color like black or white you can refresh it with a cleaning & polish. I chose to keep our door black and add the color pops all around.

The angled brush gets into all the creases & corners of the wood, leaving no spot untouched! AND, my gosh, the paint finish is SO good!!!

First, I sanded my wood planters to smooth out all the chipped pieces and prevent splinters. After wiping them down, I grabbed my brush and started at the top, working my way down, so I could catch any drips as they are happening and eliminate them.

Once finished I did the same to the second planter and allowed them to dry.

Lay Down Rug & Door Mat

Select an outdoor rug that doesn’t compete too much with the planters and your door mat. It should also be larger than the door mat to achieve a layered look. Next, place the door mat down on top of the rug directly in front of the door. Feel free to use your paint brush to DIY a blank door mat or add color to an existing one like I did below. I chose a black rug that wasn’t too distracting and matched my black door.

Add Flowers to Planter

Select flowers that compliment the planter in your chosen color and add to planter. We have busy toddlers, so I’m using 3 bunches of artificial flowers in each planter for minimal upkeep!

Add Door Hanging & Style

Again, select a door hanging that includes colors you like and compliments the color of your front door and planters. Once I hung my original wreath & put everything together I felt like something was missing.

I swapped out the heart shaped wreath for one that was a softer pink and would fill out the door a little better. I attached it to the Welcome sign I made in a previous post and added a floral strip to the top of the door for a little extra pop.

TIP: Something I also do often when I decorate is shopped my house! It’s FREE and already full of things I like. I did that here to add a few more decorative elements to style and fill out the front door space.

Look what we have here!! A Totally refreshed front door and we did it for under $100.

It all started with bringing my planters back to life with a fresh coat of paint.
