How can you up grade or recover my bathroom door

This type of door has a very thin veneer and is probably hollow. They are really cheap at HD etc, and it would probably cost less to replace it than to buy the materials (wood filler, paint, etc) to try to fix it.

If it's in good condition, why not paint it with chalk paint and then stencil a nice pattern? It looks like it's laminate, sand first to bring up texture so paint will adhere.

If you really don’t want to replace it yourself; they have very inexpensive foam moulding that looks just like wood especially the white kind. It is very light weight cuts easily and is not damaged by water. You can just glue it using something like “liquid nails”to the door as ”trim” and if you paint the door and the trim it will look like it belongs there. If you don’t mind mitering the corners you could even improve the look of the hollow core door. I would suggest sanding the damaged area and priming it before attatching the moulding to protect the door from additional damage from dampness. The moulding is available at almost any home improvement store and places like Home Depot even have a place and saw to cut it to size If you have your measurements with you. You can also nail it on instead if you like.

Are you trying to keep it stained? If youre okay with paint, just fill in the messed up part with Bondo. After it dries, sand it smooth and give it a coat of paint. You'll never even know it was there. I did an old dresser that had chipped veneer with Bondo. It's easier to use and sands better than wood filler

I had one like that in a laundry room and I painted it then on the bottom I painted green grass and flowers. the wrinkles of the wood made the grass look great. If I remember correctly I added clouds and such to the whole thing... Was fun. However not in the main part of the house.

Wallpaper over the entire door with a textured paper or even gift wrap paper could be decoupaged to the door. or contact paper. It could become the focal point of your bathroom. Also, another thought is to purchase a roll of think cork and adhere it to the door and use it as a bulletin board or jewelry holder for the jewelry you wear most often. Hope this gives you some ideas for an inexpensive fix.

Contact paper, I did my kitchen cabinets, they came out great, whole kitchen cost me less than $10.00 (Dollar Tree) I even did the refrigerator, it has been well over a year now and all is holding firm.

Wood fill the chips and sand & paint it in place-- easy & frugal.

I have doors like that and I sanded them and then taped off two large diamonds on top of each other, then stained the diamonds dark stain and the outer portions light stain, turned out awesome and I kept those doors for years.
