Hi Beachkoz, first, let me tell you bigold doors were used to prevent mold and mildew from forming. Ventilation was the goal. Now, you can fix the doors to form a whole door and use just a slide (fake door knob) screendoir hanfle to open and close the door.
I give this info on the assumption that there is no a/c vent in your closet. As most don’t have them.
Of course, you can always put a real door in!
You can install a regular door or sliding doors. Is the bi fold feature you are tired of or the door style aesthetically? They come in a lot of styles.
Just buy a reg. Door that fits the opening.
I never thought about the ventilation. Often times bifold doors were installed due to the lack of space to install a full door either due to traffic issues. If space is an issue those double sliding doors may be an option.
I like the "barn door" look. But there is some carpentry involved. Another choice would be to just convert the bi-fold doors you have. You could remove the slats and put mirror there instead. Or maybe a new paint color would help. Make sure to do something you like. Have fun with this project.
We found that getting a new door for our pantry wasn't an option. We would need a custom size or create a barn door. Both of which were not in our budget. Instead, we took apart the bi-fold doors and made them open like french doors and gave them a complete makeover.
