Since they are adjacent to a sun room, if you replace with wood, it must be weather resistant, and will require regular maintenance.

Wood you be any happier if the glass lacked muntins? Would you consider between the glass blinds?

I'd replace the upper glass with clear transoms. If you replace with wood, you may have to consider an awning or similar.

Yes, I would be happy without the muntins..

Usually, sliding glass doors are replaced with French doors.

There are 2 sliders and 3 stationary doors.. Don't know if french doors would work..

  • Why are they hideous? I think they are beautiful. Love to have them in my house. If budget is not a concern they have disappearing doors that might do the trick for you.

This is the sun porch which is cream and white now.. I want to convert to salon style office space and do something with the brick steps and the slider.

    Hi, SG,

I agree there are far too many muntins. Naomie's suggestions would provide a panoramic view without muntins. Nano doors are a similar option.

Lowen.com offers Doulas Fir sliding doors with or without custom caming inserts that you might opt for, as well as a very good locking mechanism for increased security.

If you prefer, you could opt for Fiberglass doors, with or without large glass inserts, but you would need a series of them , unless a contractor built walls to decrease the space you currently have taken up by glass.

I love the idea of the disappearing doors, those are great, and when the weather is permitting can be opened up much wider than a traditional set of sliding doors. They work by allowing one to slide behind the next. In your case instead of 2 moving doors and three stationary, you could have either 4 moving doors and one stationary or at the very least, 3 moving doors and only the two on the ends stationary. I do believe they are quite expensive, but the look would be spectacular. I believe they even come in taller sizes, so the transom above the doors would probably no longer be needed.

Those doors are beautiful! Good luck with whatever you decide to do, but I would create my design around those. The light that you are getting in the room is incredible.

The doors are so pretty! What do you find ugly about them? Is the style ?

It would be somewhat expensive, but you could remove the glass from some of the doors and replace them with stained glass panels. Just install them at the same height on all of the doors.
