Hi, First fix up onto the wall your track! Fixing will depend on your wall makeup/structure. As at DIY store about fixings when you pick up Track/Pole./Wire or Rod. Sometimes the curtain itself will determine the type you use. eg: 3" Pencil Pleat - Track or Pole. Ring top - Pole . Simple Hem - Wire or thin pole. etc. Hope that helps
Pick out the kind of curtain rod you'd like and install it. Then decide the the color, purpose (room darkening, sheers, tie backs, layers, valance...), the length and width, and so on. Also what room you'll be hanging curtains in...kitchen, dining room, bedroom...
Look at your furniture and wall colors and coordinate with them. Here are some ideas:

You can buy curtains also make them yourself, even if you don't sew.
It depends on the type of curtains you want...drapes, cafe, etc. Start by hanging the appropriate rod(s). Here's a link with curtain ideas for you:

It depends on what your personal taste is. Do you want sheet curtains, drapes, roman shades? I have just panels on my windows and blinds

Look through home decor magazines, online sites, etc., to decide what "look" you'd love for your home then follow through by searching for that design to purchase or if you sew you could make them exactly how you like.
There are quite a few Hometalk projects about hanging curtains, you can see some of them here

Since curtains are lightweight, you can likely get away with just a small curtain rod. If you are wanting to hang heavier drapes, you would need a heavier rod. And just be sure to screw the rod into a stud in the wall, not just through the drywall.

What style do you like
I'm not a huge curtain fan, more of valances. But at the farm we have curtains and I have found the rod is the key to a pretty display. Make sure it is the appropriate size for the type of curtain. I bought some pretty magnetic curtain ties for when I want to open up the curtains and let the outside in the room.
I would go to a store such as HomeGoods or JCPenneys and look at curtain rods and their variety of curtains. You'll want to measure the width and length of your window.
You could add blinds or shades or put art work on the sides of the windows
