I would try 2 tension rods with a curtain looped between the two, this way you have the ability to open it if you'd like but you can also keep it covered. You can try using privacy film sold in rolls at Home Depot. They come in a variety of patterns or plain.
I would buy a retractable shade/blinds.
If you want to permanently close it off, paint it black, then decorate it with glued on plants, or a beautiful picture, wallpaper, anything decorative. Good luck.
