How to remove old caulking on window trim and brick?

The trim is wood, which could be easily removed, but would rather clean it up because it still has to be removed from the brick. Any suggestions on how to remove caulk?

Get a 7 way tool and scrape what will come off then chip the rest out carefully with the aid of a hammer.

A good sturdy utility blade can be run along both edges of the caulking. Then slip the tip underneath it and it should pull out almost in one piece. You will probably need to do this every couple of feet, but keeping the caulking in tact as much as possible will make the job faster, easier and cleaner removal.

3M makes a caulk remover. It does not leave a stain on the brick. $7.00 at WalMart.

Run a flat under the outer edges of existing calking. Remove in strips. Scrape remaining pieces.. Mineral spirits, paint thinner, depending on type of calking. Or:Muriatic acid (pool) is great for cleaning bricks. Even severe hard water etching. Dilute acid and dip wire brush into bucket. Scrub bricks and rinse with hose....
