Have you considered using a window film? These are easily applied (on clean windows, using a spray bottle filled with water and a squeegee or credit card) and removable, and come in different types that can cut glare and keep your furniture from fading (because we don't want to keep that gorgeous sunlight from streaming in!!!).
Why not just hang black out curtains over the blinds. I did that in the bedroom and it is totally dark at night. If you get the drapes at Walmart there is a large selection and good prices too.
The have some very inexpensive folding blinds at the Dollar General in our area. They have peel and stick tape at top. I'm not sure how wide they come but you might check to see if they would work for you.
Depending on your decor, a bamboo roll up/roll down wide shade might do the trick. We had this in our dining room and put a nice valence over the top where it was attached. That dressed it up.
