It depends on what you use to create the lettering. If you use acrylic paint you'll need to seal it with spray polyurethane. You can etch the letters on too and then there's no need to seal
what are you using to put the writing on
Finda, you put the letters/name on the back of the window pane. The glass front then protects the words/picture etc. If you hang it outside you should also either paint over the words or use a covering glued over the words (all on the back) It is the way decoupage is done. You never glue anything to the front of glass! It is counter- productive!
