What do you have on your sliding patio door?

I would like to change out my dated vertical blinds on my patio door which I have probably had for at least 10 years. Would like to see yours or any inspirations. What is the trend these days for patio doors?

I don't have sliding glass doors but if I did, I would probably use white plantation shutters since I really favor that look and have them on almost all my windows now. However, be forewarned if you like that look too, plantation shutters are exPENsive! Probably one of the most expensive window treatments available--at least the quality ones are. I've had to add them to my windows a couple rooms at a time over the past 5 years. Another treatment I am seeing a lot more of is different versions of bamboo blinds, either sliding or roll-up like roman shades. They come in different colors and if you need privacy, some of the companies are offering blackout shades to attach to the backside of the blinds. Of course, drapes or curtain panels that draw to one side are an option too but Pinterest is a good place to search for other looks.

I have the same problem. My door is in my kitchen. Right now I have nothing on my sliding doors. Just a valance on top. I love the shutters, but not until my children are grown.

I am going thru this same problem right now. We just bought curtains. We pull them to the side during the day and they work great. No more vertical blinds!!

Mary, there are a LOT of exciting new options. My suggestion would be to have someone come in to show you some and make recommendations. You will also get a no obligation quote. This service is provided at no cost by window fashion dealers.

At least price replacing the doors before you consider something as expensive as shutters. There are doors with mini blinds sandwiched between two panes of glass. Also French doors are more attractive, functional, and cheaper to curtain if you must.....

I would either have a privacy tint put on your sliders,it helps in the summer with the heat and sun. Or I would do some nice sheers maybe with a print and some curtains that pulled back that you could close if you needed privacy.

We had sliding doors in my raised ranch kitchen that went to a deck. They faced the rising sun in the east. I put curtains on them, the door that opened was on the right so the curtain rod pulled all the drapes to the left then they could be closed at nite for privacy and until the sun was overhead. I've never been a fan of vertical blinds either.
