    If you want to cover as in painting, wallpapering, modpodging or covering with contact paper; cover beneath where you are working to prevent damage to floor or cabinets that are beneath the area.

    If you want to change the look of the scallop, you can try cutting it off with a jigsaw, attaching a board trim over the edge or just remove the board with the scallop and replace it with what you like.

    I did this a few years ago by removing the scalloped board and replacing in with a straight edged board. Angle brackets can be used to hold it in place plus some glue.
