What can I do to this window?

Great window! I would install a window bench with storage. Outside, plant anything pretty that will thrive in the area, but not get too tall and obstructing the view.

You could put a window seat inside with cushions so the kids can sit there and read! You could also put a window box outside and plant some flowers in there. Inside, hang some sheer curtains that can open and close easily...allowing light and giving a little privacy too!

I agree that a window seat with under-storage would be a wonderful compliment to this lovely new window. Window seats are a timeless classic that never go out of style. Scotchguard the fabric to help keep it clean, and to prevent staining.

I saw a beautiful window done that would work well here. It was so long ago that i have never seen it done since. It was actually in a kitchen (where it was impossible to hang curtains right behind the table and chairs). They family had collected National Geographic and cut out flowers in every shade of the rainbow. Take clear or frosted contact paper and put it over each picture -press out all bubbles. Cut the pictures to the right size for each window pane. Set each picture in water for a few minutes and gently rub the paper off the back (leaving the color picture on the contact paper). the adhesive is till good and the transparencies can be applied to the glass in a graduated "rainbow" or you could do all greens for a tropical theme. One of my sisters has such a window in her living room. It is where they have always put their Christmas tree which is one objection to a window seat. When the tree is not there they have a round table and two upholstered chairs. I like the idea of a window seat and for many years when I was younger I kept such a magazine picture to use if I ever had such a window!

If anyone did have their heart set on putting their Christmas in front of the window, then make the window seat in 3 parts, with the centre base removable. It would involve a little more cutting and sewing of 3 separate bases and cushions, rather than one, but would allow flexibilty and a full window seat during the 11 non-holiday months.

All great suggestions for the interior and exterior...but what I see is a beautiful three part window, that, from the outside view looks almost like a black void ....I would just recommend three separate window coverings both for privacy, especially at night where when you have the lights on, people would not be able to see inside or what you are doing....options are white 2 inch blinds, or roll up shades ....I would not put full length curtain panels there as they seem to be too formal looking where the blinds and shades are a neat way to keep your privacy and will complete the look from the outside...

I have an almost identical window to yours. I had wooden blinds made. It let's in all the light during the day, and night time it is completely closed off. No one can see in. I had them made in white to add to the brightness.

Nets or Voile close to window, Mains eitherside with maybe a Pelmet Fabric or Solid. On the outside Shutters and Window Boxes.

Plants, like pothos or spider plants, hung at varying heights would be decorative and give a little privacy.. without totally blocking the wincow
