On one I have a double rod with washable curtains and sheers and another I have washable vertical blinds.
My mom just used sheers in the basement walkout because it was at the back of the house. For the dining room slider she used both sheets and drapes to keep more sun off the carpet and furniture and for privacy since the block behind could see in the room at night if the lights were on.
You can also get stick on film. It comes in many varieties.
I know they might be out of fashion right now but I have always preferred drapes on a traversing mechanism. I did not get into the vertical blinds when the rest of the world did. Your choice of fabric should be guided by your needs like blocking sunlight, creating privacy and adding color and texture. I have 4 sliders that face West to a lake and I use drapes for light control and warmth.
