Valance for Kitchen Window

I have a chicken theme in my kitchen, but couldn't find any curtains I like. However I got a pillow case that fit perfect. I didn't want a regular curtain because I didn't want to block my view, so I opted for a valance instead.
I found a pillow case from my grandmother that I liked for my kitchen. Using a seam ripper, I took out all the stitches.
Then surged the edges, washed and ironed it. I cut it in half.
Sewed a new hem. Measured for the thickness of the curtain rod I have. Sewed a small ruffle in the top.
I now a have a great new valance for my kitchen window.
