We recently moved into our new home and haven't done anything to it in 7 months. I plan on tackling a room every couple months. My guest bedroom is bare and has nothing in it right now except for a bed. I went shopping to a consignment store and picked up a few accessories. The next thing I plan on doing is a 'Headboard'. Ihave always designed for others but never personally worked on any projects for my home. I think this is a good time to start.
*My motivation to do this project:
My hands are itching to do a DIY project.
*Project Steps:
1, Materials needed for headboard.
2. fabric style and texture (I think i will go for the black and white fabric)
3. What color paint for the walls?
Advice:
List all Items you need before starting the project.
budget it line by line. I am on a tight budget so this is very important to me.
Dont assume, be sure!
Materials:
Pic frame - $13.00
Copper tea pot - $7.00
Green Vase - $6.00
Things I picked up from the Consigmnet store in downtown Duluth GA
The lighted headboard
Frame made from 1x4's
I glued and stapled foam to the frame to soften it.
I I stapled lights to the inside of the frame with the switch just outside the frame.
Stapling the linen fabric to the frame.
Making patterns with my favorite oil bottle and chocolate brown fabric paint.
I wanted the imperfect square print, and it worked just fine.
My pattern, irregular but still organic and perfect.
the headboard on the wall, I painted the back wall a Lyndhurst Dutchess blue from Valspar.
In the night!

Nicely done! Lighting is very effective. I made a headboard out of a hollow core door, put molding around the sides and top, painted it and mounted it. when I am ready for a change, I can still wrap batting around it and upholster it. It cost me $15 total, door from habitat! I am not ok with nails and hammer like you!
