I recently did a make over of my master bedroom that included updating some outdated furniture (I didn't want to spend a lot of money on buying new stuff). Some of these pieces had been in my house for a very long time and were still functional, but were in bad need of an update.
Halloween is my most favorite holiday so I always go all out with the decorations. Every year I try to come up with some new Halloween items to mix in with the old, and I always seem to have more project ideas than time. So the easier the project is, the more likely it is to get done...which is why this DIY Halloween wreath made the list.
Every year I host a Halloween party where I go all-out on Halloween decor. Since I don't want it to look the same every year, I'm always trying to find new ways to add to the decor that are easy to make and don't cost a lot of money.
I have always done a lot of entertaining at home but have never had a proper bar. Which meant I was always digging through cupboards to find my bar supplies when friends were over...and not always finding what I was looking for.I finally decided to get a fold up bar cabinet that would give me easy access to everything when I needed it, but not take up much room when I didn't. The problem was that all of the cabinets I liked were really expensive.
When I added picture gallery in the stairway going up to my home office, I had a hard time finding pictures I liked to fill all of the spaces. I wanted something inspirational to read on the "way to work" (ie. walking up the stairs) and I've always tried to live by the "Live, Laugh, Love" motto. So I thought...what better way to fill the empty spot than to create my own sign using that saying.
Every year I host a big backyard cook out for the 4th of July. The problem is that I spend so much time cooking for this event that I don't have a lot of time left for decorating. So I'm always looking for really easy ways to add some red, white and blue to my party decor, and these super simple candle holders definitely fit the bill.
To me, fall is all about getting together with family and friends, whether it's for Thanksgiving dinner, a spectacular Halloween party, or a hayride through the pumpkin farm. Which is why creating a "Gather" sign to hang on my fireplace mantel just seemed like the right thing to do. It describes my view of fall perfectly!
I have always loved the look of bookshelves that have art hanging on the front of them. Especially in small rooms, it is a great way to create more "wall space". But I have never done it before because it seemed to make getting to the books very awkward.
I can't believe that fall is almost here already! Time to start bringing out the pumpkins! And figuring out how to make the ugly fake ones look prettier.
It’s the beginning of summer…time to start inviting some friends over to hang out on the deck! The only problem? The deck is covered in dirt and algae.
