Happy November friends!! The count down to the holiday season has officially started, and the Christmas decorations have taken over the stores. But before we jump straight to Christmas cheer, I wanted to share a simple Thanksgiving decoration idea with you. Every November, as a family we do something throughout the month to help us all remember to be more grateful. In years past we've done the Thankful Pumpkin idea- which we love. But this year I wanted to do something that we didn't have to throw away, and could be stored easily. So I decided to make a Thankful scroll to hang in our dining room all November long. The idea is that we can add to the scroll throughout the month, and get our families in on the fun when they are here for Thanksgiving as well. I'm excited to see it filled out, and to have a visual reminder all month of how very blessed we are."It's not happy people who are thankful. It is thankful people who are happy."
I love Halloween! Not the scary haunted houses or movies, because I'm a big chicken with a huge imagination- which is not a good combo. But the dressing up, fun parties, decorations and of course the candy!! And since we don't want to scare the children around here ;) I stick to more fun decorations at our house for Halloween. So this year I made these cute and easy mummy mason jar guys to decorate our foyer table with. They are adorable, and so easy to make it's scary!!
Changing up the wreath on your front door is an easy way to add a little fall warmth to your front porch. I love changing my front door decor- with the change in seasons. And although you can find some lovely wreaths in stores...it's a lot of fun and easy to create your own unique wreaths. You just need a few supplies, a hot glue gun and little inspiration!
I love a good dining table centerpiece....they can really make a table shine! But I'm also pretty busy (like I know most of us are) so I don't always change my table decor for every holiday/season...*gasp!* ;) And while I love Halloween- I don't really decorate the inside of my home for it, so I wanted to create a centerpiece that I could leave up from now until it's time to get out the Christmas decor. I also didn't want to spend a lot....which can be a tall order when you're talking craft stores, DIY and me. I have a crafting problem, but admitting it is the first step, right?!?Anyways, if any of you have a Michael's close to you- all their fall floral stems were 60% off. So I got these lovely large hydrangea flowers for only $2.25 each!!! Happy dance! The lamb's ear floral I got at JoAnns (with a coupon), and I already had the milk can, burlap and pumpkins. So over all, a fairly quick and inexpensive project.
I love finding new ways to spruce up my decor....and admittedly, fall is probably my favorite season to decorate for. And it's not just because my birthday is in October ;) I love the changing leaves, pumpkins, cooler weather (hello sweatshirts- I've missed you!) hot chocolate, pumpkin spice scented candles, bonfires...and that cozy feeling that always seems to accompany fall.
Home decor, like fashion- is always changing and evolving into what is the next big trend. And like in fashion, you should take what you like from what the pros say is trendy in home decor, and leave the rest. Your home should be a place you feel comfortable in, no matter what the experts say. But it's always fun to see what's new and trendy in interior design, so today I'm sharing my top 5 favorite 2018 Fall home decor trends with you! So pull up a chair, get comfy and hopefully get inspired....
If you have looked around Pinterest or any design/home magazines lately, you have probably noticed that gallery walls are a popular and fun way to decorate your space. But where do you start? How do you put it all together? Well today I'm going to share with you, how I created a gallery wall in my dining room.
Have you ever picked out the perfect paint color for a room, only to get it on the wall and it's not what you wanted? Picking out paint colors can be a daunting and scary task sometimes. You want it to be right the first time. And while it is just paint- who wants to repaint a room after you just did it?!? Not me!Color consults are something I do regularly for friends and clients. So I thought I would share a few tips to help you pick the right paint color, the first time.
It's always fun to switch up your dining table decor with the changing seasons, but it's not very much fun to send a lot of money every season to do it. So today I thought I would show you a fun and easy way to create your own simple table runner, with just some brown packing paper, scissors and a sharpie! It's really easy to do, and the creative possibilities are endless.
This week my kids went back to school...and while I know it's late August and all- have you seen all the pumpkins and fall decor EVERYWHERE?!? Who am I kidding, it was starting to appear in late July, but that's another story. Now don't get me wrong, I love fall as much as the next gal! My birthday is in October, and although I'm not a fan of pumpkin spice everything (hopefully we can still be friends ) fall is really my favorite time of year. But I also live in North East Ohio, where summer is really only 3 months long (when we're lucky) and then it's back to cold. And this girl wants to soak up all the warm sunny weather we have left of summer! So instead of pulling out all the pumpkins just yet, and in case you're not quite ready to either- I thought I would show you how I'm decorating for the last days of summer this year.
