We had this old steamer trunk that for several years simply stored Christmas decorations. I have always been in love with this trunk and wanted to do something special with it but was never sure what, so I let it go on living as a storage trunk.
Someone gave us a head/foot board that could no longer be used as a bed. The holes where it all connected had worn out and it was no longer sturdy enough to hold a bed frame.
So I had this NEED to have a filing cabinet. My junk loving friends, you know not to ignore this calling from the soul, lol! So I got one and it of course sat around FOREVER before it hit me...a planter but obviously not like one I have seen yet ;) .
These google eyed creations were a complete accident! We were organizing our tires that we use for various creations when I rolled up some of the tread we had cut off. I looked at my husband and said "what does this look like?". He responded immediately with "A snail!" And these little cuties were born...
We recently redid our daughter's room. I will post the finished pics once her desk is done but I could not wait to post this one project. I needed to create storage and around here we do it for as cheap as we possibly can. FREE if we can pull it off, lol. I took a banged up, rusted old filing cabinet that I got at a thrift store for $5 and created a place for all the naked Barbies to live so I would not have to walk thru a sea of bodies in our 8 year old daughter's room.
So there is a beautiful head/foot board bench that is on the Hometalk homepage that I fell in LOVE with. It was bright, happy colors and I was inspired. I had gotten this plastic headboard from a friend who wanted it out of her garage and it sat in my barn for over a year or more but now I knew it would be perfect for this project!
So I got this floor lamp at the thrift store but never intended to use it as a lamp. I had a general idea but until I could get it apart, I was not sure how I was going to do it.
I have lots of old windows. Some with glass and some without. This was a quick little project that allows you to have a window flower box anywhere you want because it comes with its own window!
