Joyful Sunflower Fall Porch Decor

This year we decided to create an uncluttered, peaceful porch for fall with just a few seasonal flowers and pumpkins, centering our decor theme around bright and cheerful sunflowers. Decorating with sunflowers is fun because those big bright yellow flowers add a pop of color to an autumn porch that just makes you smile.
It was easy to add the sunflower theme here and there with a few DIY projects we share below - we're really enjoying the simple, pleasing, and comfortable results!
Along with the sunflowers we included a few extra "pops" of color on our front porch such as the colorful mums, blue cushion backs, yellow-orange table runner, the pillow fabric, and the cobalt blue enamelware pitcher.
The starting point for our sunflower decor is this painting I made to go in between our blue shutters. It's made from fence slats attached together on the back. I sure hope my painting gives you the confidence to try painting for yourself - it is easy and rewarding to do and I hope you believe that!
In fact, we took pictures while creating the fence slat painting and put them together in a short video so you can see each step. I would love it if this helps you to create your own flower porch decor!
We wrapped the cushions of our porch swing with gray and white checked fabric - no sewing was involved in covering the cushions. Just take a piece of fabric large enough to cover your cushion, then wrap it as you would a present and pin it on the back. Works like a charm to quickly update your cushions!

I painted the sunflower pillow medallions on the side pillows and the blue pillow in the middle is one of the no-sew pillows I wrote earlier - check out our post on covering cushions and making quick no-sew pillows for fall.
The decorative wreath on our front door is also simple- a grapevine wreath with half of a sunflower garland wrapped to one side of it. Then add a piece of burlap and gold ribbon for hanging. So simple and it looks pretty on our blue front door.
We finished off our autumn porch with some classic mums on our porch steps. It's a super easy way to dress up your porch for autumn (we were so fortunate to find these mums on sale for $2 each). Eventually we will plant them in the ground as a perennial to enjoy year after year.
