We've been renovating our kitchen and I'm loving the result! You won't believe our new countertops are LAMINATE and have a special edge to them to make them appear more like granite and no more brown lines! It's a new product and the large scale patterns of laminate they make now really mimics granite. It's amazing! This wasn't a DIY project because well some things should just be hired out, but definitely worth it. You should come check out our gorgeous new sink too. It's black quartz, seamlessly undermounted, and oh so fancy. More details and source list can be found in my post. http://www.decorchick.com/new-kitchen-countertops-and-gorgeous-quartz-sink :)...

They say that granite countertops are on their way out of style because of price. When we get ready to do a full kitchen remodel I'm replacing my laminate countertops, but I don't know with what yet. We want a farmhouse sink...cast iron or porcelain...not plastic for sure.

I've been reading that granite countertops are going out as, since they are less expensive now, too many people have them. Also decorators want to give their clients something unique and most people want something unique as well. I currently am trying to decide what to do as my counter needs replacing but I don't want to end up with something that is going to look passé in a short time. In my research I am finding quartz to be the best recommendation. There is also a new product that is part quartz and part something else; I only saw the ad once and can't remember all the details.
