My mother in-law purchased this giant ottoman from an online store. She didn't read the full description, this thing is huge 4'x4' square and 21" tall. One side lifts up for storage and the other pulls up toward you as a desk? Anyway, she asked me to make it smaller, shorter and pretty. You can do that... right? So I loaded it into the back of the truck and brought it home. My husband stood there and shook his head.
We decided everything must go but the tops, hinges and mechanisms.
We built the base from wood and painted it off white with an antique finish. I recovered the top with an upholstery fabric
We added some vintage drawer pulls to the sides. They have a bit of a green patina to them so they really pop.
And covered the bottom with cedar. We left the inside unfinished since she couldn't make up her mind on how she wanted it.
