Unique Statement Bench - Easy Enough for Kids to Make!

Earlier this year, in about February, I was on an online painted furniture group, and I ran across an adorable lady that was making some fantabulous furniture, some kinda weird tiedye looking kinda of stuff and I was enthralled. Her name is Michelle Nicole and you can find her product at www.unicornspit.com
I kinda fell in love with her and the product - see, Michelle used to work with disabled and elderly and she did art projects with them - but she needed something water based, for easy cleanup and something that was nontoxic, and wanted something that they could just do with their hands - since some of them had dexterity issues. So, she just went and made it. She became a Mad Scientist and just started making it and bringing it in with them to use on their projects. How cool is that, though? So, we started talking and she became a fast friend to me and I loved seeing her enthusiasm as her product started to catch on with others and kind of took on a life of it's own.
Michelle posted a video on how she does her signature Aura Blasts and it triggered something very creative in my daughter - she decided to do her own Aura Blast and asked me for a small piece of furniture on which she could experiment. I gave her a bench and she went to town - she loved it!
Did I mention the smell??? It smells divine - like jasmine , y'all - legit. And if you are a DIY'er like we are, you know the typical smells of stains and products - it ain't good, right? Lici loved playing with it and it made me remember when she was much younger and wanted to be an artist - she was pretty amazing too - but somewhere along the line - something, someone, another kid in school, a teacher, me or her dad - or her own esteem told her that she wasnt artistic. I had forgotten how long it had been since I had seen her lose herself in a really creative endeavor - and it broke my heart a little bit, but my heart also swelled with love and excitement for her to tap back into that part of her soul - because I truly believe that creativity comes from the soul and we need to feed and nurture that, and if we don't it withers. I loved seeing her in bloom again.
It's so easy and fun to play with - you can see Michelle's videos on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/nmhfYxdMNsw
You basically just use your hands and push it around to make the design that you want to make!
Remember to make sure each layer of color dries, so you don't get the colors muddied up - we use a heat gun to speed this up in the shop - if the weather is dry or hot, it dries pretty quickly all on it's own!
The SPiT creates this killer three dimensional effect!
Once its dry, you seal it with Tung Oil - you can add other sealers to the piece once the Tung Oil has really cured - follow the directions on the bottle to make sure you allow for curing times.
This is Lici's statement bench all done!
So, anyway - that is Unicorn SPiT, y'all - pretty awesome, right? If you want to find it on Facebook - you can find it here: https://www.facebook.com/UnicornSpit OR on the web here: https://www.facebook.com/UnicornSpit !
My twelve year old sold this piece on my website - the new owner loved having a piece that was so unique! You can follow our site and see more of the projects we have done with Unicorn Spit here: http://www.vintagerustva.com/ OR here: https://www.facebook.com/VintageRustVirginia

UPDATE: Thanks to the overwhelming response to this post, Lici was inspired to get back in the shop after a couple months of a break and get back to SPiTting! You can follow her art on our page - we will be making a special page just to feature her artwork! Thanks for all the kind comments and shares! It made her so excited to get back into it again! https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1014261831958445.1073741834.807536349297662&type=1&l=c351edfbd6
