String Pumpkins

String pumpkins are fun to make and different! You can go to anyone's home and find fabric pumpkins but who else has string pumpkins?
String pumpkins are easy to make too! All you really need are balloons, orange crochet thread, glue, water and a place to hang them where they can drip such as a covered patio.

For these pumpkins I also made a leaf using a piece of green wool and cut sticks down for the stems.
Make a glue and water mix and coat the balloons liberally in this mix. Start wrapping the string around the balloon and coat the string with the glue and water mix as you go.
Wrap the balloon until it is well covered in thread and then hang them someplace warm to dry.
When the string is dry, gently pop the balloon and pull it out of the pumpkin.

Now you just need to add a leaf and a stem and you're ready for fall!

Help! We tried this three different times and this was the same result. The string stuck to the balloon and when we popped the ballon it shriveled up.

You only have to put a bery light coat. Don't saturate it. A light coat of modpodge would probably work too.
