If you have a scroll saw, then now is the time to dust it off and make some decorations, or wooden toys to sell, or for presents.
Here are a few ideas, which can all be made from scrap.
This Belen was cut from 1" pine, the lines on the figures are saw cuts. The hardest and most intricate part was cutting the lettering above, it is cut in one long strip from 1/4 plywood, and then glued to the banner, it took two attempts on my first one to cut it without breaking it.

The good thing about this is the simplicity, and that all the parts pull apart for storage.
Snowflakes for the Christmas tree, again these take time and a steady hand, these were cut from 3mm MDF.
Depending where you live these Geckos are a nice decoration, I put a pin hole in the nose, so that they could be hung up on the wall. I cut these out in batches, and used an artists spray compressor to paint them. These were cut from 3mm MDF.
Kids love ducks...or at least they loved these, there is only three parts to each one, the body and two wings, so I cut out all the parts from 1" pine, and then sprayed them before assembly.
Teddys are another children's favourite, this time there are five pieces again from pine, the body, two arms and two legs, painted, and then using a hot glue gun, stuck the pieces together, I was also asked to make some with moving parts, for this, I drilled a hole right through the legs and body, likewise with the arms, and inserted a piece of wooden dowel.
I also did Mum and Baby version stained and varnished.
The little boy and girl, these were cut out also from 1" pine, and the lines burned in using pyrography, there were three options for these, either as they are here in the photo, used as ornaments, or by attaching an upright piece of wood, the same dimensions as the base, either in front or behind the figure, they made excellent book-ends.
Finally...A Christmas Wreath, for this I cut each part separately, the circle, the two Angels, and the various sized stars. as you can imagine the Angels took the most time.

Once all the parts were cut (from 3mm MDF, I sanded them, the painting on this was done by brush. I then glued all the parts in place, cut and glued some red christmas paper as a backing, and a piece of red ribbon at the top, to hang it.

I hope this gives you a few ideas!
