Cheap Easy DIY Outdoor Pumpkins

The Stonybrook House
by The Stonybrook House

Those plastic outdoor pumpkins are expensive!! I found a way to make my own and save a bunch of $$! It is definitely worth the time. Look how adorable they are?!!

You can do this! It's like doing an art project in grade school!

You will need a large trash bag, a couple of smaller plastic bags, newspaper and tape to get started.

I filled the bags up with newspaper and taped them to take the shape of pumpkins.

I used a special paper mache' recipe that made them extra hard and durable. You can check the blog post for the recipe.

I had a lot of fun painting. Especially giving them dimension and making them look real.

Then I assembled them, added some fall leaves and decorations. Voile'! They are so bright and cheerful! I live on the east coast where we get some pretty cold, wet weather. They held up beautifully!

If you want the full details, please stop by and see for yourself!

So....this recipe does not spread and getting it smooth takes lots of water. In picture it looks like you used newspaper on the big one since there is color and bag was black. Is there a step missing? Why is it gray? Is the color on big one newspaper? Pleasehelp because one batch barely covered small one.
