Challenge The Furniture Spa presents how to use Unicorn SPiT to revitalize a $10.00 entertainment center door.
Revitalized Stained Glass (Looking) Door.
Unicorn SPiT is used in the above picture to complete the transformation of this stained glass looking door. Completed by The Furniture Spa, LLC.

This is the before picture of an oak entertainment center that we purchased at a yard sale for $10.00 (glass was removed for transportation). We tried to resell it at our yard sale and I couldn't even give it away.

Tools and items needed:

A piece of glass

Frame for the glass

Screwdriver

Unicorn SPiT (colors of your choice)

4 clean foam applicator brushes

Thin piece of plastic wrap large enough to cover your glass

Scissors

Air Compressor (optional)

Rubbing Alcohol

Paper Towels

Mod Podge Satin

SPiT Syringe

Krylon's Looking Glass Silver

Gold spray paint

Rustoleum Spray Laquer

Minwax Wipe On Poly

800 grit sandpaper

Clean the glass really well with soapy water, rinse clean, and dry the glass. Now, make sure it's clean of any soapy residue or finger prints by cleaning the glass with rubbing alcohol and dry.
Use a clean foam applicator brush and apply a layer of Mod Podge Satin on to the back side of the glass (the side that you will not see). It will be white when it is applied and wet. Let this layer of Mod Podge dry on the glass. Once the Mod Podge is dry it will be clear again.
Unicorn SPiT used here is Pixie Punk Pink, White Ning, Blue Thunder, Purple Hill Majesty, and Zia Teal. Also shown are my Unicorn SPiT Syringes for each color and the air compressor tip used.
Simultaneously drip drop Unicorn SPiT in Purple Hill Majesty, Blue Thunder, Zia Teal, White Ning, and Pixie Punk Pink using a spit syringe on to the back side of the glass (the side that you won't see).

Use an air compressor with a small nozzle and blow air onto the areas of spit that you want to spread out. Close up of some of the SPiT blown around by the air compressor.
Apply more SPiT using the same colors (if you need to fill in any bare areas on the glass). Then again use the air compressor and small nozzle to move or spread out the SPiT on the glass.Cut a piece of thin plastic wrap (large enough to cover your glass). Carefully lay the plastic wrap on top of the wet SPiT. Now, keeping the plastic in place use your hands to spread out the Unicorn SPiT over the glass and then carefully lift and remove the plastic wrap (which you can throw away). Let this completely dry before proceeding.

Spray Krylon's Looking Glass Silver over the entire surface of SPiT and let air dry to the touch, about 10 minutes. Repeat this step until you have 5 layers of the Looking Glass Spray on the back of your glass.

Spray small bursts of gold spray paint in a few places on top of the dry Looking Glass Spray. Wait for the gold spray paint to dry.

Spray Rustoleum Laquer over the entire surface of the glass and let it air dry. Repeat this step until you have 5 coats of laquer on your surface.

Option: You can attach a chain to the hinges and hang at the top. You can even add hooks for keys or coats (make sure your chain has enough workload (weight or pounds that you want it to hold). The chain shown here was weighted for 35 pounds and was purchased at Ace Hardware Store.
Remove all hardware and set aside for later usage.

Sand the oak wood frame down to bare wood using an electrical sander, I used a mouse.

Use a wet rag and wipe off all of the dust on the frame and let it air dry.

Once it's dry make sure the frame is free of any dust residue.

Use a clean foam brush and apply Midnight's Blackness Unicorn SPiT to the wood frame. Let the SPiT dry and absorb into the wood. Repeat this step until you achieve the color that you would like for your project. For this project I applied 3 coats of Midnight's Blackness.

Once your frame is totally dry (I let it dry overnight) use a clean foam brush applicator and apply Formby's High Gloss Tung Oil Finish to the frame and let it air dry. I used 3 coats of Tung Oil for this project.

Once your frame is totally dry use a clean foam brush applicator and apply Minwax Wipe On Poly in Clear Satin to the frame and let it air dry. Repeat this step to apply 2- 3 coats of Wipe on Poly, lightly sand in between dry coats. Do not sand on your last coat.

Reattach your hinges and decorative knob back plate (centering the back plate) to the front of your frame. Flip your frame over so the back is facing up, place your stained glass back into the frame (with the front of the glass down), and reattach your glass holders onto the frame to secure the glass in place.

This project can be used as an updated version of the original door, a decorative lean to stained glass piece to brighten up a room, hang it on the wall by placing screws through the hinges to the wall, or another option is to apply a chain to the top of the piece and hang in front of a window or on the wall.

That's gorgeous. Have you ever done anything on concrete? If so, did you prepare surface before the spit?
